In the Sring of 1978, Basset first heard of the famous Shroud of Turin
and the remarkable image on the cloth. Intrigued by the photo-negative
phenemenon,whereby the image as seen in the negative revealed almost
photographic clarity, Basset began to study the image by rendering this highly
sensitive pencil drawing. This drawing is the very first attempt by the artist
to discover the visual nature of this most extraordinary religious relic. Click
