Basset began to apply what he felt was an accurate rendering of the man of the Shroud to depictions of Jesus. In this image the early morning trial of Jesus reaches a climax as Pilate offers the jeering crowd their choice between Jesus or Barrabus. The crowd yells back "Give Us Barrabus!"
